FRENCH NICOLAS DUCHENE FULL SIZE VIOLIN WITH BOW & CASE in Chislehurst, Greater London for sale

FRENCH NICOLAS DUCHENE FULL SIZE VIOLIN WITH BOW & CASE

This is a fine example of a circa 1890 made, full size (4/4) French violin made in Mirecourt, France by Nicolas Duchene. A professional valuation has just been obtained from the renowned Central London violin dealer, J P Guivier, which suggests an insurance value of £2,000 and a private sale value of around £1400-£1500. You will see a copy of the valuation in the photos and the original will be supplied with the violin. For security reasons, part of my home address has been blocked out in the photo. The violin has a stamp printed on the inside by the maker, visible through one of the "F" cutouts which is in black print, arranged in a triangular form and reads: A LA VILLE DE PADOUE NICOLAS DUCHENE The violin plays perfectly well and there is no defect at all in its construction. It does have a number of light scuffs on the front and rear of the body. A German bow and violin case as well as a padded chin rest are included. Photos of the violin, case and bow are shown in the listing. The bow plays perfectly well and the case, which is sturdy black plastic, is perfectly functional but does have some stains on its underside. I have lovingly owned and played the violin for around 40 years and it is ready to play with the included bow. PAYMENT Payment will be accepted by either of the following methods: 1. Bank transfer 2. Paypal (as a "Send Money To Friend payment). SHIPPING - PLEASE NOTE: There will be 3 delivery options as follows: 1. You may collect in person. 2. If your delivery address is within a 1 hour drive of my home location (postcode BR7), I will be happy to deliver it to you by hand free of charge. 3. If neither of the above apply, I will need to send the violin to you via the courier company, Mailboxes Etc., and within the UK, the charge for professional packing, shipping and insurance is £90. The insurance cost alone is £60 and I would not want to send a £2000 violin uninsured. I am prepared to pay half of this cost myself. Therefore, the cost to you will be £45. PACKING - PLEASE NOTE: If the violin is to be shipped, then for its protection, the bridge and soundpost will be removed. Either you or a local dealer will then need to reinstall those items. This should be able to be done at a very modest cost - I was quoted £10. Genuine enquiries only please. Thank you.
